Quality Stonework

For over a decade, Quilter Stonework has been trusted with the care of some of Ireland’s most valued stone structures. We work directly with heritage organisations, design teams, conservation architects and private owners who need work carried out to the correct standard. We adopt a conservation-first approach, ensuring minimal intervention and using matched materials and methods that respect the building’s history.

Working as a stonemason since the mid-1990s, Tim Quilter practices traditional skills in like-for-like repair and reversibility, preserving original fabric wherever possible.

How We Think,
Not Just What We Do

We look before we plan

Every project starts with time spent understanding the site, the stone, its history and its current status. That understanding shapes each decision that follows.

We check what the building needs

Sound stone is left alone. Where repair or replacement is necessary, we intervene to the degree that the structure requires.

We work closely with the design team

Where an architectural specification exists, we follow it. If something on site differs from what was expected, we’ll say so early rather than quietly work around it. We prepare mortar samples and stone samples when requested.

We match materials to the building

Stone, lime and technique are chosen to suit what is already there, so repairs weather in line with the rest of the structure over time

We document the work we carry out

On completion, we can provide a record of what was done and why, for the benefit of the building's next custodian.
