Repointing of cut limestone entrance piers at a private residence.

These limestone piers form a strong and distinctive entrance to a private home in Ardfert. The masonry joints were carefully prepared and repointed, strengthening the stonework while retaining the piers’ natural character.

Particular attention was paid to the fine joints surrounding the dressed stone blocks, recessed panels and moulded caps. The finished work complements the adjoining stone walls and traditional iron gates, giving the entrance renewed definition without taking away from the age and character.
