Reinstatement of a pre-1700 limestone wall using traditional lime mortar.

Standing for more than three centuries, this limestone wall forms an important part of Currow’s historic graveyard. A damaged section was carefully reinstated using traditional lime mortar, following the irregular coursing and natural character of the original stonework.

The aim was not to make the wall look new, but to ensure that the repair belonged. Close attention was paid to the junctions, joints and coping, creating a strong, breathable repair that respects the wall’s age and preserves its distinctive character for years to come.
